Magazine 20 Round Magpul
The stainless steel barrel on this gun is ISONITE QPQ heat treated, also known as Melonite or Salt Bath Nitriding, this process gives the barrel a black finish and makes the barrel very hard (RC 70). The Isonite treatment should make the barrel last much longer. The barrel was sent to MMI Trutec by Freedom Gunworks for the process and cost about $100.00. Bobby at Freedom Gunworks also threaded my barrel and installed a JP Tactical Compensator . The rifle has almost zero recoil or muzzle rise with the the compensator installed.

I built this AR 15 for work, to use as my patrol rifle. I needed a rifle for close range use like room clearing and will probally never use it over 100 yards but was able to hit silhouette targets at 200 yards easily with the RMR sight. The 7 moa RMR Sight was hard to get, took three months on backorder but was worth the wait. This sight was a perfect co-witness to my YHM backup iron sights with the tall RM-34 picatinny mount. The 9 moa and 13 moa RMR sights are easier to get but I like the smaller dot for my use.

This is one I built using an AR57 upper receiver and a Rock River Arms Lower Receiver. The AR57 upper seems to be very high quality and is milled from a monolithic block of hot forged 7075 T6 aluminum. The AR57 uses the 5.7x28mm cartridge, the 5.7mm has about the same energy as a 9mm but has almost no recoil. The AR57 uses P90 50 round magazines and is very reliable. The 30 round magazine under the bottom of the gun is hollowed out and is used to catch the empty brass that's ejected out through the magazine well.
